Books I Read in 2025

Books I read in 2025, in no particular order.

Permutation City - Greg Egan

Was recommended to me by Alex Matrosov. Mind-bending exploration of consciousness, reality, and virtual worlds. Dense but rewarding.

Neuromancer - William Gibson

I read half of it maybe 10 years ago. Now I finally finished it. Cyberpunk classic that defined the genre. Dense but rewarding.

The Doomed City - Strugatsky Brothers

Actually, my favorite Strugatsky Brothers book. A dystopian novel about a city that is a social experiment. Philosophical, dark, and thought-provoking.

Writing an Interpreter in Go - Thorsten Ball

Practical, a lot of code examples. Walks through building a simple programming language interpreter. Great for understanding compilers. Still to read the compiler book.

Roadside Picnic - Strugatsky Brothers

Soviet science fiction classic, period. Must read.

1984 - George Orwell

Yeah, I finally read it.

Animal Farm - George Orwell

Again, finally read it.

Effective TypeScript - Dan Vanderkam

I changed the joib this year and now I work with TypeScript. Great book, about shitty language.

Slaughterhouse-Five - Kurt Vonnegut

This guy is a genius. Time travel, war, and the absurdity of existence. A classic that defies genre.

Gulag Archipelago - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

I remember my grandma jad this book on her shelf. But I never read it. Now I did. A harrowing account of the Soviet labor camp system. Deeply moving and disturbing. Hard to read, took me 2 months.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams

Absurdist humor, 10/10.
